Understand sites, meters, and energy assets

Vega’s inventory model
Vega organizes energy information in a hierarchy. First confirm that you have selected the correct workspace:
- An account represents the organization’s workspace.
- A site represents a physical or operational location.
- Components represent connected meters, solar equipment, batteries, environmental data, or logical groups within a site.
- Measurements, invoices, health information, and connector details belong to the relevant component or site.
This structure gives Vega the scope for a question. “Consumption last month” is ambiguous; “consumption at the Main Warehouse from its utility meter last month” is much more reliable.
Find a site
- Open Inventory.
- Use Search in sites if the list is long.
- Search by site name, owner, address, or tag.
- Review the Country, Address, and Health columns to confirm the correct row.
- Select the site row to open it.
Site names should be clear and unique. Tags are useful for grouping facilities by region, function, ownership, or another convention used by your organization.
Understand the site tabs
A site can contain the following tabs:
- General contains the site’s identifying and location information.
- Health summarizes issues affecting the site and provides links to affected components.
- Components shows the energy-asset hierarchy.
- Weather contains environmental measurements when configured.
- Sync shows data synchronization status and jobs.
Some tabs or controls appear only when the site contains the relevant type of data.
Read the component hierarchy
Open the Components tab. The tree may include:
- Slovenian utility measurement points from Moj Elektro,
- Polish PPE measurement points from Energa,
- SolarEdge sites or meters,
- APsystems systems, ECUs, inverters, panels, or batteries,
- other connected meters,
- environmental measurements, and
- virtual components used to group or calculate values.
Expand a row to see its children. The hierarchy matters: a total at a parent level may include several child components, while a child measurement can represent only one part of the system.
Use the connector and device icons to identify where data comes from. Do not assume that two components with similar names have the same source or measurement direction.
Open a component
- Select a component from the site’s Components tab.
- Check its name, connector type, and identifier.
- Review the available tabs.
Depending on the component, you may see:
- Settings for user-editable component and synchronization properties,
- Health for component-level issues,
- PV Performance for supported solar components,
- PV Forecast for short-term operational production forecasts on supported solar components,
- Contracted Power for supported utility components,
- Invoices when invoices are associated with the component,
- Measurements for recorded data, and
- Info for connector and device metadata.
Only use settings you understand. Changing a name or display property is different from changing connector, synchronization, or PV configuration.
Replace connector credentials
You can replace expired or rotated credentials from a connected component without reconnecting it. This is available for Moj Elektro, Energa, SolarEdge, and APsystems connections.
- Open the site in Inventory.
- Open Components and select a component that uses the connection.
- Select Settings.
- Select Edit credentials at the bottom of the page.
- Wait while Vega checks how many components share the credentials.
- Read the scope message carefully. A single update can affect several connected components, and an APsystems credential can affect components across several systems.
- Enter every replacement credential requested in the dialog.
- Select Verify and save.
- Confirm that the success message appears, then check synchronization and recent measurements.
Vega saves the replacement only after verifying that it can still access the selected component and every other affected component. If verification fails, the existing credentials are kept. Use the connector-specific guide for the correct credential fields:
Distinguish common energy directions
When reviewing a meter, establish what each series represents:
- Consumption is energy drawn or used.
- Production is energy generated or exported, depending on the meter and connector definition.
- Reactive energy and power are separate electrical quantities and should not be added to active energy.
- Power describes a rate at a moment or interval; energy accumulates over time.
Check units before comparing values. For example, kW and kWh describe different quantities.
Check whether assets are assigned correctly
For each important site, use this inventory check together with the broader data-readiness checklist:
- Confirm that its address and country are correct.
- Open Components and identify the primary utility meter.
- Identify solar, battery, EV, HVAC, or internal meters that should be present.
- Expand component groups and look for duplicates or unexpectedly unassigned equipment.
- Check Health for connector or measurement issues.
- Open Measurements for key components and confirm recent values.
- Use Sync if you need to inspect synchronization status.
If a component appears under the wrong site, do not compensate by changing your chat question. Correct the inventory relationship or ask the responsible person to do so.

When typing a message, use the site and component selector to insert the intended item. See Select sites and assets in a conversation for more examples.
- Begin typing the site or component reference in Chat.
- Choose the correct suggestion from the list.
- Verify the inserted name.
- Add the time period and metric to your question.
Example:
For the selected Main Warehouse utility meter, show daily consumption for the last complete month and compare it with the previous month.
Explicit inventory references are especially important when an account has multiple sites, meters with similar names, or both consumption and production series.
