Analyze tariffs, grid fees, and contracted power

Understand the inputs before considering a change

Grid costs depend on more than a single price. The applicable country, network operator, revision, tariff group, calendar period, day type, hourly zone, and contracted-power values all affect how a result should be read. Vega brings those inputs together so you can understand a charge or investigate an opportunity without treating an estimate as an approved change.

The Tariffs page provides the calendar and price configuration for the active account. A supported component’s Contracted Power tab uses its measured demand and stored configuration to present current values and recommendations. Neither view changes a utility contract.

Confirm the active account, site, component, and country configuration. For measurement scope and units, review Select metrics, meters, and sites.

Read the tariff calendar

1. Open Tariffs from the left navigation.
2. Select Country.
3. Select Network operator.
4. Select the applicable Revision.
5. Select the site’s Tariff group.
6. Review the selected tariff calendar and its valid date range.
7. Choose a year with the previous and next controls, or select Now.
8. Select a date in the calendar.
9. Read the selected day’s kind, tariff period, and hourly zone assignments.

The calendar uses separate visual markers for tariff periods, day kinds, today, and the selected day. A bordered day can also indicate a calendar override. Select an hourly zone to highlight its corresponding price column.

If Vega reports that no active tariff configuration is available, check the country, operator, revision validity, and tariff group. The refresh button reloads tariff data but does not invent a missing configuration.

Read the price tables

The Prices section identifies the selected country, operator, revision validity, tariff group, and calendar. It then shows zone-specific rates and tariff-group rates with their units.

Use only rates whose revision covers the date being investigated. Record whether a value is energy-based, power-based, or another charge type; values with different units cannot be added directly.

The Tariffs page is reference data. A chart’s tariff or time-block breakdown classifies measurements using a resolved calendar, while an invoice shows what was actually billed. Reconcile billed cost with Compare invoices with measured consumption rather than assuming that a calendar view reproduces an invoice.

Run a contracted-power analysis

The Contracted Power tab appears only for a component that supports this capability.

1. Open Inventory and select the site.
2. Open Components and select the grid component.
3. Select Contracted Power.
4. Select Run analysis.
5. Wait for completion; Vega can notify you when the job finishes.
6. Return to the tab and choose a result from Result if more than one exists.
7. Review monthly CB1–CB5 current and recommended kW values, current cost, new cost, and saved amount.
8. Note any row where contracted power is unavailable and no recommendation can be calculated.

Results can contain historical, current, and expected-savings sections. Treat all savings as analytical estimates. Validate the tariff inputs, measured peaks, calculation period, operational constraints, and contract rules before relying on them.

Open the result as a breakdown chart

Select Open breakdown chart from the Contracted Power tab. Vega creates the monthly Peak Power visualization and opens it directly in the detailed chart window, with the chart on the left and controls on the right.

The following controls are in the right-hand panel of that chart window. For a general explanation of the window, see Open and adjust the detailed chart window.

1. Confirm exactly one component is selected.
2. Keep Peak Power and Timeblock selected.
3. Use Auto, Bar, or Stacked bar; the overlay is unavailable on a line chart.
4. Under Overlays, keep Contracted power enabled.
5. Choose Recommended, Defaults, or both under Series.
6. Choose Latest or a specific saved result.
7. Select Refresh after changing data or overlay settings.

The overlay is enabled only when the chart uses peak power, a time-block breakdown, a non-line presentation, and exactly one component. If the control says Select exactly one component to enable, narrow the scope.

Ask Vega to explain the result

Select Ask AI in the Contracted Power tab to open a contextual conversation based on the displayed component and result. Ask Vega to state:

• the analysis result ID and period,
• current and recommended values for each available block,
• assumptions used for the cost estimate,
• unavailable months or incomplete measurements, and
• the checks required before contacting the network operator.

Do not interpret a recommendation as an instruction to change contracted capacity. Obtain contractual, engineering, and operational approval through your organization’s normal process, then verify Vega’s evidence.
